Rakesh Pandita and Bhanu Partap Singh Jamwal, both activists of the Joint Action Committee of ETT Colleges, climbed the mobile tower carrying a bottle of kerosene oil in front of BOSE in the city's Rajpura area and threatened self immolation.
Though the police and other officials rushed to the spot and tried to pacify the duo, they wanted deputy chief minister Tara Chand's, who is also the state's Education Minister, assurances about their demands.
The incident, which started at 11 am, ended at around 5 pm after Chand assured them that their demands will be looked into in a week's time.
"The issue was resolved...They have come down and lifted the dharna on the government's assurance," Station House Officer (SHO) Bakshi Nagar, Ghulam Hassan Kamaal said adding that a case has been registered against the duo.
