The incident took place around 8 pm at Arts College ground here, where a kabaddi match between Andhra Pradesh and Delhi teams was going on as part of the four-day interstate tournament that was inaugurated today.
"A group of around 30 people was watching the match from this temporary gallery constructed using iron rods, when it collapsed, in which 20 of them sustained injuries," Rajahmundry (Urban) DSP Kulasekhar told PTI.
"The injured were taken to Government General hospital Rajahmundry for treatment. Five of them sustained fracture to their legs and are undergoing treatment in the hospital," the officer said adding that it might have happened due to overload.
Rajahmundry MP M Murali Mohan had inaugurated the tournament.
