2011-Advani bomb case suspect Bilal brought to AP for probe

He was wanted in connection with the planting of a pipe bomb on the yatra route of BJP leader L K Advani near Tirumangalam in Madurai

A key suspect in the 2011 Advani bomb and many other casess, Bilal Malik, was brought to Puttur town of the district by Tamil Nadu police today.

Chittoor District Superintendent of Police Kanthi Rana Tata told PTI that "Bilal Malik was brought to Puttur town as part of further investigation."

The Tamil Nadu police personnel produced him before a court in connection with a case booked against him and another suspect Panna Ismail and he was later taken back to Chennai, another police officer said.

Along with a huge haul of explosives, Bilal and Panna had been arrested after a 12-hour operation by Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh's OCTOPUS (Organisation To Counter Terrorist Operations) on October 5.

An attempt to murder (307 IPC) charge read with Section 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC had been slapped against the duo in connection with the attack on Tamil Nadu Police Inspector Lakshmanan during the Puttur operation.

Besides many other cases, they were wanted in connection with the planting of a pipe bomb on the yatra route of BJP leader L K Advani near Tirumangalam in Madurai district in 2011.
