The 712-km road project, worth Rs 30,000 crore, called the Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi Corridor, is expected to be completed by October, 2019 by Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC).
"This mega project will be implemented with the consent of all the stakeholders. Out of around 20,000 hectares of land required for the ambitious project, consent for 5,000 hectares, which is 25 per cent, has already been received," Thane Collector Mahendra Kalyankar said here, adding that the process to get the consent of the remaining land-holders was on.
A key feature of the project is that it would be carried out in the land-pooling model with farmers being made partners and some percentage of developed land given back to them.
"This is the first time that such a system of land-pooling is being tried in the state," Kalyankar said.
He said a high power committee has been constituted to look into the objections and suggestions.
According to Kalyankar, another highlight of the project is that there would no toll plazas on the expressway.
"Instead, there will be toll booths at the entry and exit points. The toll will be directly proportionate to the length of the road actually used," he said.
