29-year old man gets seven years RI for raping minor

A 29-year old man was today sentenced to seven years rigorous imprisonment by a court here for raping a minor girl under the influence of liquor nearly four years ago in nearby Sirumugai.
Giving the verdict, Mahila Court Judge M P Subramanian also slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 on accused Srirangan.
The prosecution case was that Srirangan, a daily wage earner, under the influence of liquor sexually assaulted the eight-year old girl after taking her to a secluded place in Mothur on the night of November 5, 2010.
The public, on hearing her screams, rushed to the spot and rescued the girl.
