Acting on a tip-off that the three would assemble near the petrol pump, the police reached the spot and arrested Ashish (25), Rajesh (31), and Kamal (29).
In the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that Ashish, who started working as an attendant at the petrol pump in March, used to swipe the data of the debit/credit cards of the customers into an encoder so that it would be copied into the machine, police said.
The data was then provided to Rajesh and Kamal who decoded the information with the help of another machine. The decoded data was then transferred on to dummy smart cards which were used to withdraw money from ATMs situated at isolated places, police said.
The equipment involved in cloning -- encoder, decoder, and laptop -- has been recovered.
The accused informed that they had till date cloned 30 such cards and had bought a Honda City Car from the proceeds of the crime.
