Pakistani police today said they had arrested three men in the federal capital and seized 100 kg of explosives from them during a raid.
Police acted on an intelligence input and raided a house in Tarnol in southwest Islamabad yesterday. Detonators, wires and other bomb-making material were found at the location.
"We seized the explosives and two cases have been registered at Tarnol police station. Three persons have been arrested," a senior official of Islamabad Police told PTI.
The arrests came soon after a suicide bomber blew himself up near the army headquarters in the garrison city of Rawalpindi, killing 13 people.
Asked if the arrested men had any link with the attack in Rawalpindi, the official said, "I cannot say anything. The investigation is on."
Security agencies have reportedly detained 48 suspects during a search operation in Pirwadhai and others areas of Rawalpindi.
The suicide attack in Rawalpindi came a day after a blast inside the cantonment in Bannu city in the restive northwest killed 20 troops. The banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan claimed responsibility for both attacks.
