Police acted on an intelligence input and raided a house in Tarnol in southwest Islamabad yesterday. Detonators, wires and other bomb-making material were found at the location.
"We seized the explosives and two cases have been registered at Tarnol police station. Three persons have been arrested," a senior official of Islamabad Police told PTI.
The arrests came soon after a suicide bomber blew himself up near the army headquarters in the garrison city of Rawalpindi, killing 13 people.
Security agencies have reportedly detained 48 suspects during a search operation in Pirwadhai and others areas of Rawalpindi.
The suicide attack in Rawalpindi came a day after a blast inside the cantonment in Bannu city in the restive northwest killed 20 troops. The banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan claimed responsibility for both attacks.
