3 Indians held for cheating quake-survivors in Nepal

Three Indians were arrested today in Nepal for allegedly collecting money from people with fake promises of providing up to Rs 200,000 to the earthquake survivors in the country.
Sujit Kumar, Sudip Kumar Kusuhawa and Ranjit Kumar Kusuhawa from Bihar's Champaran region, who posed themselves as representative of Indian government, have been booked in fraud charges by the police.
"They were collecting nominal fees to fill out a form, saying the Indian government would provide up to Rs 200,000 for the survivors of earthquakes that rocked Nepal on April 25 and May 12," Santu Prasad Jaiswar, Inspector at Garuda Police Station was quoted as saying by ekantipur.

Acting on a tip-off, a Nepal Police team arrested the trio from Fatuwa Harsaha VDC-6. They were caught while collecting Rs 100 to Rs 300 for filling the forms.
"We filled up the forms trusting them that Indian government would provide Rs 100,000 - 200,000 to the earthquake victims," said Suraj Kumar Sah.
Police have confiscated forms, laptop, rubber stamp, mobile phones, cards of Income Tax Department of India, master card and visa card of various Indian banks and a motorcycle from them.
It is learnt that the arrestees have confessed to their crime, the paper reported.
The two earthquakes were country's worst temblors in decades which claimed nearly 9,000 lives and caused widespread devastation.
