Three people were injured in a tiger attack in Bhandara district in Maharashtra on Saturday, a forest department official said.
The incident took place at noon in Binaki village in Tumasar area, some 60 kilometres from here, he said.
"We got a call about a tiger sitting on Pumsar-Bapera highway and a crowd gathering around it. Despite our warning to the crowd to not go near the tiger or put it in distress, three people were injured by the animal in the melee at the site," he said.
He said efforts were on to tranquilise and capture the tiger, which is moving around in the vicinity.
A video of the incident, which showed hundreds of villagers running after the tiger in a chaotic manner and one of them getting attacked by the big cat, went viral on social media some time later.
