An argument over food turned into a brawl among some inmates who punched and kicked each other leaving three of them injured, Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Sumesh Bahadur said.
The injured inmates were taken to Sadar hospital where the attending doctors referred one Ramashish Rai to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) in view of his serious condition, he said.
Senior civil and police officials have rushed to Hajipur Central Jail to investigate the matter, Bahadur said.
Confirming the incident, Superintendent of Police Suresh Prasad Chaudhary said that a probe was on to find out the entire facts of the matter.
