Existing policy allows an IAS officer to choose the cadre state of his/her spouse.
The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) is looking into the proposals of 33 IAS officers who have sought cadre change. Of these, 13 have sought cadre change due to marriage, 16 for physical disabilities and four on other ground, a senior DoPT official said.
Seven male and six female IAS officers belonging to 2010-2014 batches have sought cadre change, citing marriage.
They are Dinesh Kumar A S and Killu Siva Kumar Naidu of Manipur-Tripura cadre; Swati Srivastava and Riju Bafna of Chhattisgarh; Himanshu Aggrawal and Varun Ranjan of Uttar Pradesh cadre; Parth Gupta, Jaspreet Singh and Medha Roopam of union territories cadre; Afsana Perveen of Jammu and Kashmir cadre; U Swaroop and Nidhi of West Bengal; and Kadambari Bhagat of Nagaland.
The central government may, with the concurrence of the state governments concerned, transfer an officer from one cadre to another cadre on the ground of marriage, as per a DoPT policy.
There are 28 other IAS officers, of 1988 to 2008 batches, who have sought inter-cadre deputation. They include M Gopal Reddy of Madhya Pradesh cadre, Ranjit Kumar Singh of Gujarat, Mayur Maheshwari, P Guruprasad, Aparna U, Ministhy S, Vinod Sharma, Adusumilli V Rajamouli and Chaitra V of Uttar Pradesh cadre, Dheeraj Kumar Maharashtra, Harbans Singh and Sowjanya of Uttarakhand and Bina Srivastava of Jharkhand.
