Accused were brought to the court under heavy security at the time when the court was about to close for the day.
Inspector Aman Kumar, who is a member of a SIT formed by the Superintendent of Police, yesterday said the accused were arrested under relevant sections of IPC on the basis of a complaint filed by Mukesh Verma, organiser of the 'Sunar Sammelan'.
Kurukshetra BJP MP Raj Kumar Saini, who has been vocal against Jat reservation, was yesterday allegedly attacked with ink and slapped by five youths at a public function here.
They also threw pamphlets at the parliamentarian before his supporters overpowered four of them, while another managed to flee.
In his complaint, Verma had alleged that five accused threw ink over the MP and allegedly tried to strangle as well as attacked him physically.
He could be saved with the timely intervention of the securitymen and supporters of Saini.
The accused had been identified as Harikesh (student of BA 1st year), Sandeep (LLB), Saurav Dhanda (B.Sc Final), Parveen Dhanda (B.Sc ,biotech) and Jatinder (B Tech student).
All the accused are resident of Budhana village in Hissar district.
SP Simardeep Singh ordered the transfer of the chowki In-charge to police line for dereliction of duty and security at the residence of Saini was beefed up in view of threat perception.
Meanwhile, local MLA Subhash Sudha and lawmaker from Ladwa, Pawan Saini in separate statements condemned the attack on the MP.
Describing it as a "sad" incident, Pawan Saini said such incidents should not happen with any common person.
Social and religious organisations demanded Z grade security for Saini.
Saini has been vocal against reservations to Jat community and has announced to hold a rally of at Kurukshetra on November 28.
