4 arrested for possessing deer skin, meat

: Four persons were arrested by Forest Department officials today in Anaikatty on the city's outskirts for possessing deer skin and meat.
Acting on specific information, officials from Periyanaickenpalayam Range rushed to the spot and found four persons, consuming the meat, in the wee hours of today, police said.
The arrested were identified as Maruthan, Arjunan, Rajasekar and Periyathambi and 10 kg of meat was confiscated from them, they said.
Interrogation revealed that they found a dead deer, probably killed by wild dogs; cooked and consumed the meat and decided to sell the skin to make a quick buck, police said.
