The police arrested four persons from Naghata in Nadia district for allegedly planning to send answers of West Bengal Teachers' Eligibility Test (TET) questions to some people via SMS, police said today.
The TET was held today across the state and around 23 lakh people took part in it.
"We came to know that school teacher Swarup Biswas has a plan to supply TET answers via SMS in lieu of money and he collected huge money from the TET examinees across the district. We arrested him and recovered some money last night," Additional Superintendent of Police Ajay Prasad said.
Three others -- Sulabh Biswas, Kartik Sarder and Sanat Mondal -- were also arrested in this connection, Prasad said adding Swarup is the mastermind.
A Krishnagar court remanded Swarup to five days' police custody and 14 days' judicial custody for the three others.
Meanwhile, a report from Bankura said a TET examinee died during the examination at Patrasayer.
Bankura district police said Arun Dumrya (38) sat for the examination at Krishnanagar High School and he complained of chest pain during the examination.
When he was taken to the nearest hospital, he was declared dead on arrival.
Dumrya hailed from Lakshmisagar village under Simlapal police station in the district, police said.
