When single Indian women were asked about their views regarding marriage in a survey by Shaadi.Com, 40.4 per cent said they wouldn't want to change their surname after marriage.
Another 27 per cent respondents said they would like to stay financially independent post-marriage followed by 18 per cent who said that they would like men to take up equal responsibility of the family.
Over 14 per cent said they would like their husbands to treat their parents as their own.
When married Indian women were asked about what influenced their decision to get married, over 30 per cent cited parental pressure.
"We have always believed that women should be strong and independent, and it is very encouraging to learn that this thought resonates with the Indian woman," Gourav Rakshit, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Shaadi.Com said.
