A 40-year-old woman, hailing from the neighbouring country of Nepal, was found hanging from a tree in West Champaran district on Wednesday, police said.
The woman, identified as Maya Devi of Nawalparasi district, was found hanging from a tree in Mangurha forest region under Sahodara police station area, SHO Krishna Murari Gupta said.
He said the body, hanging with the sari worn by the woman, was first spotted by forest department personnel while they were patrolling the jungle and they informed their superior who, in turn, informed the police.
The body has been sent for post mortem after which it would be ascertained as to whether it was a case of suicide or murder after, possibly, sexual assault, Gupta said.
