Around 250 cartons of liquor, worth Rs 20 lakh, were seized from a tractor-trolley during an alleged encounter with smugglers last evening in Shamli district, a police official said.
A case under the excise act has been registered against the 11 alleged smugglers, who managed to escape, the official said.
In Muzaffarnagar, two persons were arrested last evening after 165 cartons of liquor were recovered from their truck, an officer said.
