5 of family killed in mishap, 11 injured

Five members of a family were killed on the spot and 11 injured when the van in which they were travelling rammed into a coconut tree today at nearby Musiri, police said.
The deceased included two men, two women and a girl child.
The family was returning to nearby Edamalaipatti Pudur after offering prayers at a temple when the driver lost control of the vehicle and it hit the tree and turned turtle.
The injured have been hospitalised, police said.
