50-year-old man gored to death by elephant

A 50-year-old man was gored to death by an elephant today at Ayyankolli, about 80 kms from this hill station, police said.
The villager was returning home after purchasing provisions when a tusker, which was part of a herd, chased and gored him to death near Gudalur, they said.
Forest officials and police rushed to the spot on receiving the information.
