Police have arrested six people for smuggling bovines in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri and Poonch districts.
Fifty-five bovines were rescued by the police, they said.
Police teams of Mendhar sub division in Poonch district intercepted three vehicles carrying the animals near Mendhar bye-pass road while two others were intercepted at Ari road last night.
All the vehicles were seized and six people were arrested in the case, the police said, adding a case was registered.
The accused were identified as Nisar Hussain, Javed Iqbal, Mohd Mushtaq, Mohd Khursheed and Mohd Taj.
In another incident, a police team rescued 18 bovines from three vehicle during routine patrolling on Thanamandi road, the police said.
The vehicles were seized, they said.
