The roving 'SHE Teams' that keeps a hawkish eye on eve-teasers have arrested four men, including a septuagenarian, for allegedly teasing women in separate cases in the city, police said today.
According to police, all the four accused were arrested over the past couple of days.
"71-year-old Mohammad Shadiq Ali, a retired employee, who was sitting at Koti bus stop here and was trying to touch ladies inappropriately. The victims who were sitting at the bus stop beside him were frightened by his acts and were shifting to other places," a release from Hyderabad Police said.
"This was video-graphed by the SHE teams present there and the accused was caught red-handed," it said, adding that the elderly man was produced before a magistrate, who sentenced him to jail for two days.
In another case, B Ramulu, a labourer, was caught at Afzalgunz bus stop while he was allegedly stalking a lady and trying to touch her since 6 months, police said adding that the victim then dialled 100 as she was vexed with his behaviour.
SHE teams present there caught hold of him and he was produced before the magistrate who sentenced him to jail for 5 days.
In the third case, Mohammed Mohsin Ahmed, a private employee, was caught while allegedly teasing a woman at Mehdipatnam bus stop.
"He was teasing and following a lady, by winking at her, giving gestures trying to talk to her. Entire episode was video recorded by the SHE Team present there.
"He was arrested and produced in the court along with the evidence and was fined."
In yet another case Mohammad Ishthiyak, a waiter, was allegedly found touching ladies inappropriately at Mehdipatnam bus stop, with shoulders, harassing and teasing them. "The SHE teams caught him with video evidence produced before the magistrate and he too was fined," the release added.
Hyderabad police has set up 'SHE Team' to crack down on eve-teasers and stalkers last October.
A single SHE Team consists of a male or female sub- inspector, a woman police constable and three police constables who carry hidden cameras for video recording.
