75 cartons of liquor seized in UP

In a drive against use of liquor to woo voters, the excise department today seized 75 cartons of liquor from several places here.
A team of the district excise department led by Inspectors Himmat Singh and Avdesh Mishra raided several places and seized the 75 cartons of liquor, District Excise Officer Kurendra Singh said.
The seized liquor was to be used to attract voters for the ongoing Village head polls, Singh said.
Police have registered a case against four accused who succeeded in escaping, the District Excise Officer said.
