According to the complaint lodged with the police, the girl was searching for her kite which had fallen near her house yesterday when Pashupati Nath (38), a rickshaw-puller who was known to her, convinced her to accompany him.
"He took her to a room where he molested her. Hearing the girl's screams, some locals reached the spot and nabbed the accused," a police officer said.
"Police have arrested the accused and booked him under relevant sections of the IPC," he added.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused had molested the victim more than once in the past.
