Nine children, eight of them girls, were rescued from Mumbai-bound Gitanjali Express at Howrah station today.
GRP sources said the children admitted that they had escaped from a home in central Kolkata, reached Howrah station on foot and boarded the train.
The children could not initially specify which home they escaped from but GRP sources later said that it was a home on Park Street.
They were all handed over to Kolkata Police.
