Around 9,000 bottles of illicit liquor were seized from a godown by poll officials and Delhi Police in a joint-operation in Uttam Nagar area last night.
Police said the recovered liquor was meant for distribution during the coming assembly elections in Delhi, said police.
An FIR has been registered against unnamed persons as Election Commission's officials and police are yet to ascertain the ownership of the godown.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) maintained that its candidate Naresh Balyan from Uttam Nagar had got nothing to do with the recovered liquor and said these are all old tactics of the opposition to defame the party.
Police said that the raid was based on a tip-off according to which a large quantity of liquor was stocked in a godown at Kabari Bazar Road in Om Vihar area of west Delhi's Uttam Nagar.
"The input was shared with the Returning Officer (RO) who was also present during the raid," said a senior official.
