Keeping with its plan to come up with constituency-specific manifestos for all the 70 Assembly seats in Delhi, BJP today released its first local poll charter for the Model Town constituency where party treasurer Ashok Goel is the candidate.
In the manifesto, Goel has, among others, promised a mini sports complex for children, a 200-bed hospital, an air- conditioned community centre, ownership rights for residents of DESU colony, DTC colony and Sangam Park, covering of Najafgarh drain and separate sewage and drainage systems.
Speaking at the manifesto launch, Goel said, "All the promises made in the manifesto will be fulfilled in a time-bound manner."
State BJP President Vijay Goel and the party's Chief Ministerial candidate, Dr Harsh Vardhan, were present at the launch.
The BJP chief said that the party was releasing local manifestos for all the constituencies with a view to fixing constituency-specific accountability.
"People want local area development programmes and local manifestos spell out such specific programmes. The local manifesto for Model Town addresses the issues concerning the people here.
"Similar manifestos, prepared by the respective party candidates for the other Assembly segments, will be released in the days to come," Vijay Goel said.
As to the state-level manifesto, Goel said that the party would release the same in the next couple of days.
"The state-level manifesto has its limitations as it cannot address the specific concerns of all Assembly constituencies. It will reflect the common concerns of all the constituencies and BJP's positive agenda to address those," he said.
The manifesto for Model Town has been prepared after extensive parleys with the people of the constituency, Ashok Goel said. Inputs from residents' welfare and traders' associations have been incorporated in the manifesto, he added.
"The specific programmes will be implemented in a fully transparent manner (if the party comes to power). All the localities in Model Town will be transformed over the next five years," he said.
Following the manifesto launch, Sardar Dalbara Singh, national president of Bahujan Sangharsh Party (Kanshiram) formally joined BJP.
Speaking at the event, Singh claimed that Mayawati's BSP has lost the trust of dalits and only BJP could fight for them.
