The session was organised by the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCC&I) to bring together the corporates and educational institutes on the same platform to ensure students graduating in various disciplines know the skills they need to develop for the industry.
The conclave also discussed the bottlenecks to employability and how companies and educational institutes could work together to remove them.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chairman of the Srei Infrastructure Finance Ltd Sunil Kanoria stressed the need to create a movement for proper utilisation of Human Resources.
Such an initiative could bring in a socio-economic transformation, he observed.
"The nation should also create a situation where offers for jobs will be more than the persons looking for jobs," Kanoria said.
The BCC&I President Sutanu Ghosh stressed on how to make education more relevant to the industry.
Ghosh stressed the need to develop skills and other parameters required in a candidate to develop his employability, besides strengthening relations between the academic institutions and industries.
The conclave chairperson Rahul Bose said that the institutes should groom the talents to ensure availability of right persons for any industry.
Chairperson, The People Management Committee of the Chamber, Somesh Dasgupta said, "India's job growth is on an upward trend because of the PM's Skilling and Make in India Initiative. We should ensure that talented youths can crack the job market and secure employment of their choice."
