ACB arrests village official for demanding and accepting bribe

Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths trapped a government village official (talathi) attached to the Ner tehsil on Monday afternoon while he accepted a bribe of Rs 6,000 from a farmer for granting documents with regard to his ancestral property.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Satish Deshmukh of Yavatmal ACB, the farmer had approached Digambar Govindrao Khandare, the talathi of Brahmanwada (East) village under the Ner tehsil of Yavatmal district for certificates of his father's property.
The accused allegedly demanded Rs 6,000 for the documents after which, the complainant approached the ACB and lodged a complainant.
ACB sleuths laid a trap in the tehsil office on Monday, caught Khandare red handed while accepting the bribe from the complainant and arrested him.
Further investigation is on.
