B S Rajpurohit, the Vice-Chancellor of Jai Narayan Vyas University here, was today questioned by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) in connection with the alleged irregularities in the 2012 recruitment scam.
"He was interrogated for about 3 hours, where the focus was the legal aspects of the recruitment undertaken and the power entrusted to the vice chancellor," the ASP C P Sharma said.
He said the interrogation would continue for some more time. Rajpurohit today served his last day as Vice-Chancellor of the Jodhpur-based University.
However, response from Rajpurohit did not materialise.
The ACB had summoned him for interrogation on February 13 but he skipped appearance citing ill-health.
"He informed that he would turn up when he would recover, but he was seen working in his office, following which the ACB sent a fresh notice to him to appear for interrogation today," said Sharma.
As many as 17 persons including Vice-Chancellor, deans and head of the departments of a university here have been booked by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in connection with alleged irregularities in recruitment of seven teachers in the varsity.
The ACB found irregularities in appointment of seven teachers and also registered cases against them as well as members of the scrutiny committee of Jai Narayan Vyas University.
Objections were raised on the recruitment drive launched by the university in late 2012.
The eligible and aggrieved candidates had constituted a 'sangharsh samiti' against the appointments and gave a complaint to the ACB alleging that rules and laid down for the recruitment of teachers were flouted.
