Social activist Prince Singhal today met Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and urged him to set up a regulatory body which would help bring about social changes to check cases of underage drinking and drunk-driving.
"Delhi Government needs to have a more structured commission/regulatory body headed by the chief minister himself to prevent underage drinking and drunk-driving. Such a body would help to bring in the necessary social change both in terms of drinking pattern and drunk-driving," Singhal said.
He also recommended a separate enforcement committee to reduce dependence on police department to enforce the Delhi Excise Law.
"Kejriwal also greatly appreciated CADD's project 21 minimum age legislation, lowering the drinking age to from 25 to 21," he said.
Singhal, who is the founder-president of Community Against Drunken Driving (CADD), has been working in the field of prevention of drunk-driving and underage drinking since 15 years.
