A division bench, consisting Chief Justice Kurian Joseph and Justice Sanjay Karol directed the chief secretary to file a reply within three weeks regarding the steps to be taken in the matter.
The orders came during hearing of a petition filed by social activist Ajay Srivastav, on "inadequate" implementation of the provisions of the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act of 1995 by the state.
"We are of the view that the state should address the issues as required under the Act and a proper committee headed by the chief secretary should look into all the issues in a coordinated manner," the court said.
The court, while listing the matter for January 1, also asked the HP Board of School Education and HP University to file affidavits within three weeks with respect to their obligations under sections 30 and 31 of the Act.
