Advance estimates for GDP to be released on Jan 7

Gearing up for early presentation of the Budget for the next fiscal, the Central Statistics Office today said it will come out with the advance estimates of the national income on January 7, one month ahead of the usual date.
The data is used as an input in the making of the Budget, which the government is planning to unveil on February 1 as against the convention of last working date of February.
"The advance estimates will be released on January 7, a month in advance," TCA Anant Chief Statistician said.
Early Budget will help various departments to move ahead with their developmental projects from April 1, the start of new financial year itself.

Finance Ministry is gearing up to present the Budget 2017-18 around February 1, advancing the scheduled date by about a month so as to complete the entire process by March 31.
