After revolt, DCW member resigns, demands disbanding of panel

The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) member Juhi Khan who had revolted against its chief for summoning AAP leader Kumar Vishwas, has urged Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to disband the present DCW body and reconstitute a new one.
She also submitted her resignation from the membership of DCW in protest against the politicisation of Commission.
"I forthwith resign from the membership of Delhi Commission for Women in protest against the politicisation of DCW.
"I also urge you to disband the present Delhi Commission for Women and reconstitute a new body of eminent people devoted to the cause of women," she said in her letter today.

Khan said the Commission has failed in its statutory mandate for working to protect women's right and preventing atrocities against women.
"It has also deviated in its duty of enhancing the socio-economic development of women in the capital and has instead embroiled itself in party politics by summoning people on flimsy grounds and violated the rules of conduct by putting the issue before the media which has lowered the image of the institution in the publc eyes it is seen serving the cause of a political party and not the woman in need and distress," she said.
Khan had revolted against DCW chairperson Barkha Shukla Singh and supported Vishwas over a complaint against him by a party volunteer, and had threatened to resign.

She had also slammed the Commission's move of issuing summons to Vishwas terming it as a move to defame Vishwas and AAP.
