"The government should release a white paper on the violence. It should look at all aspect including involvement of politicians, if any, in the clashes," AGP president Prafulla Kumar Mahanta said here.

"While the government has been claiming for long that security situation is improving, we have witnessed new incidents in Baksa and Kamrup Rural districts since yesterday. This shows the total failure of the state government on the law and order front," he said.

Mahanta blamed the government for not forming peace committees in the trouble-torn areas and termed as "political immaturity" the delay in holding an all-party meeting.

On being asked if the AGP would attend the all-party meet called by the Chief Minister tomorrow, Mahanta refused to make any comment.

He also blamed "some political forces" for inciting passion but refused to name them.

"Non-implementation of the Assam Accord and failure to detect and deport the illegal immigrants are the main reasons for the present crisis. The fate of Assam's indigenous people is being sacrificed for political expediency," Mahanta said.

"We had assumed that as a Rajya Sabha member from Assam, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will take steps to implement the accord. But he has not done anything," he said.MORE
