AIADMK Puducherry unit secretary and MLA A Anbalagan, who filed the complaint, said the temple's trustee objected to the erection of the plaque - with the names of the Chief Minister and Electricity and Welfare Ministers - in the premises.
A group of persons allegedly owing allegiance to the Ministers attacked the trustee for his objection to the installation of the plaque, he said in a release.
Demanding action against the assailants, Anbalagan requested the DEO to order removal of the plaque as it had been erected with names of Ministers in violation of the model code of conduct in force for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
