The Congress today said the Centre was indulging in "administrative terrorism" and asked it to come clear on the removal of Chief Vigilance officer (CVO) of AIIMS.
"Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) should take action against those who have been indicated to have been behind this removal. It is the responsibility of the government to give a clear clarification as to why this is happening," Congress spokesperson Anand Sharma said.
Chief Vigilance officer (CVO) of AIIMS, Sanjeev Chaturvedi, has been removed from his post and the charge of his office has been assigned to Joint Secretary and CVO of Union Health Ministry for a period of three months.
Media reports said a certain BJP leader was behind the removal.
Speaking to reporters at the AICC headquarters here, Sharma said the government and administration is going through "troubled times".
"There is an atmosphere of administrative terrorism and that has been done by taking away the constitutional protection to civil servants," Sharma said.
It is for the first time that that a Prime Minister is "spending a lot of his time in appointing Private Secretaries, peons and OSD", he said, pointing out that five circulars have been issued by DOPT about who will work and not work in Ministers' office.
Stating that no Prime Minister or administration has ever been been obsessed with such appointments, Sharma stressed that there was no reason to "punish" civil servants who have performed their duty in the last 10 years.
