AIUDF MLAs file defamation case against news channel

AIUDF MLAs of Barpeta district today filed a defamation case in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate here against a national news channel which had telecast a news alleging the party's president Badruddin Ajmal was involved in jihadi activities.
AIUDF MLAs - Abdur Rahim Khan (Barpeta), Rafiqul Islam (Jania), Ali Hussain (Sarukshetry), Abdul Kalam Azad (Bhabanipur), along with party Barpeta district president Samsuddin Ahmed and secretary Sabibar Rahman, jointly filed the case in the CJM court.
They filed the case under section IPC 500 (punishment for defamation), IPC 501 (printing or engraving matter known to be defamatory) and IPC 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) against NOIDA-based news channel's Managing Director, Managing Editor, Editor-in-Chief and Editor-Director.
