Aizawl FC beat Hal SC 5-1 in Fed Cup

The club from North-East was aggressive from the start and surged ahead through a brilliant goal from mid-fielder Michael Lalremruata in the 22nd minute.

Even as Aizawl players kept mounting pressure with accurate passes, HAL managed to put their act together and bounced back to score the equaliser through striker R C prakash three minutes later.

In the 29th minute, Aizawl defender K Lalrintluanga made the scoreline 2-1, converting a measured crosspiece.

Aizawl reground and dominated the proceedings after the resumption of play.

Mid-fielder Johny Lalfakzuala increased the margin (3-1) for the Aizawl side eight minutes into the second half while Lalrintluanga scored his second in the 65th mintue.

Striker Francis Zonuntlunga sealed the fate in favour of Aizawl (5-1) netting a goal in the 87th minute.

Earlier, Aizawl FC had suffered a 1-6 loss against Kolkata outfit Md Sporting in the opener of the qualifying round on Tuesday.
