It is an initiative of the Ajmer Division of the railways to provide clean and potable reverse osmosis (RO) plant water to the passengers free of cost at its three major stations as part of its plan to enhance passenger amenities, a senior Railway Ministry official said.
A tripartite agreement among NTPC Ltd, NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Ltd and Ajmer Division was signed here yesterday for installation of the plants at Ajmer, Bhilwara and Abu Road railway stations, the official said.
The capacity of the RO plant at Ajmer station will be one lakh litres per day and those at Bhilwara and Abu Road will be 20,000 litres per day, which is sufficient to cater to all the passengers throughout the day, officials said.
Besides, Ajmer Division has installed a total of 140 KWp solar panels costing Rs 2.16 cr at four stations through CSR funds of Container Corporation, a PSU of the railways.
