Akhilesh assures improved sports infrastructure in UP

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today said that his government was making all efforts to improve sports infrastructure and facilities in the state.
"Despite the fact that the budget is limited, I assure that we will provide better facilities and improve infrastructure in the state," Akhilesh said during a ceremony to distribute state level Laxman and Rani Laxmi Bai awards for excellence in the field of sports here.
He said that no government could be so democratic and liberal like Samajwadi Party.
"Whatever good suggestions came before us, we adopted them," he said.
He said that a student brought laurels to the state by winning in the Special Olympics World Summer Games.
"The government has decided that all such sports player will be felicitated," he said.
The CM said that the state has given a number of great hockey players to the country.
Stating that a lot was needed to be done, he said that international level players would have toured to other countries.
"Many of you must have visited a number of places and witnessed progress and prosperity. You have witnessed the stadiums and witnessed the capability of their sportspersons," he said.
Akhilesh said that the government was making serious efforts to promote sports under which new stadiums and swimming pools were being constructed.
"Even Memorandum of Understanding are being signed. An Ambassador visited the state recently and said that his coaches were willing to train here. We welcome them," he said.
The CM said that sufficient budgetary allocation would be made to promote sports in the state.
Referring to his native place Etawah, the CM said that though it was generally associated with wrestlers, but had produced a number of excellent hockey players as well.
