Akhilesh expresses concern over 'shortage' of docs in villages

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today expressed concern over "shortage" of doctors in the rural areas in the state and said his government was taking steps to fill the gap.
"Despite so many years of Independence, the presence of doctors in the rural areas continued to be a matter of concern .. We will all have to work together to see that good and dependable medical facilities are available in the rural areas also," the Chief Minister said.
In the past four years, the state government has not only taken historical decisions but has also tried to help these facilities reach the villages and poor people, he said.

The government is working in the direction of providing good medical facilities to all ..It is because of these efforts that the number of seats in medical colleges have also been increased, he said ,adding that efforts are also on to ensure the presence of trained para medical staff.
The Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone and dedicated 35 projects worth Rs 300 crore for the King George's Medical University (KGMU).
