Railway sources said following an unusual sound which emanated from the bogie, the driver stopped the train and found that the vacuum tube which supports its brake-lever had burst.
Technical experts along with a police team rushed to the spot and attended to the fault, and the train resumed its journey after half-an-hour.
No untoward incident happened because of the timely detection and action taken, sources added.
Sources said the train came in late at 5 pm instead of its regular arrival time of 3 pm at the Dharmapuri station. The train, which left at 5.15 pm, was stopped after ten minutes when it touched the level crossing gate no: 47 on the Dharmapuri-Bangalore BG line following the technical problem.
Road traffic was affected for 40 minutes on the Dharmapuri-Pennagaram road in Kadahathur villager where the level crossing gate 47 is situated.
