Hectic last minute touches are being given to spruce up the native village of Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav to make it picture perfect for the grand tilak ceremony of his grandnephew and Mainpuri MP Tej Pratap Yadav here tomorrow.
A grand pandal bearing a festive look with coloured curtains and decorative lights with a decked up stage is being given final make up at Saifai where RJD President Lalu Prasad will be performing the tilak of his youngest daughter Raj Laxmi.
Mulayam, his brother and state minister Shivpal Singh Yadav and nephew Dharmendra Yadav are camping here to personally oversee the preparations for the ceremony which is expected to be attended by the who's who of national politics, cine world and trade and business circles.
Officials, both administrative and police, including those from Kanpur Zone under which Etawah falls, have been zipping up and down the roads leading to the venue to ensure there are no glitches.
Special arrangements were being made for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his ministerial colleagues who are expected to attend the function.
The dignitaries are scheduled to land at the airstrip in Saifai from where they will cover a distance of about 11 km by road to reach the venue of ceremony and barricades have been put up all through the way.
Local officials are paying special attention to keep the area clean and see to it that it matches the special ambiance of celebration.
Family sources of the Yadavs said over 1,00,000 cards have been sent to relatives, politicians, villagers, journalists, judges and celebrities from different fields.
Expert chefs will prepare mouth watering dishes, including traditional UP and Bihari food and sweets.
