"All factions of the Republican Party of India should come together. I am for it. If such a thing happens, then I am ready to accept executive president's post and Bharip Bahujan Mahasangh chief Prakash Ambedkar can become the president of the Dalit front," Athawale said, during a public meeting at Shivaji Park here.
Athawale's statement comes in the wake of Leader of the Opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Council and BJP leader Vinod Tawde's statement today, about allotting a Rajya Sabha seat to Athawale from Bihar or Madhya Pradesh rather than from Maharashtra.
In the past as well, the idea was mooted to unify all the RPI factions, but due to the alleged differences among leaders, it has remained elusive so far.
