Aluminium prices softened by 0.29 per cent to Rs 155.50 per kg in futures trade today as speculators reduced exposure, taking negative cues from spot markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, aluminium for delivery in June fell by 45 paise, or 0.29 per cent to Rs 155.50 per kg in business turnover of 5 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in May was trading lower by 35 paise, or 0.23 per cent to Rs 154.45 per kg in 172 lots.

Analysts said off-loading positions by participants and a weak trend at spot market owing to muted demand from consuming industries, mainly influenced aluminium prices.
