Deputy Leader of Congres in the Lok Sabha said he has received support of party workers and the people wherever he has gone in the state.
"Now I am planning to visit America, Canada, and European countries where Indians live. I have to take their point of view for solving the problems of Punjab and garner their support for the party," he told PTI yesterday.
The Amritsar MP said the problems of Punjabi NRIs have not been attended to in the last eight years of BJP-SAD regime in the state.
The Amritsar MP said that his plans to visit foreign countries has not taken by the party but it's his "own decision".
Many Shiromani Akali dal leaders have already gone on foreign tours to garner NRIs' support which often comes in the form of donations or motivating friends and family in India to vote for parties. The next assembly elections are due in 2017.
Talking about his political rallies in the state, Amarinder said he has conducted several successful rallies in the Doab and Majha regions.
He also demanded investaigation into the assets of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his family members.
"Chief Minister Badal is growing more clever with age. But this will not work in Punjab," he said.
Talking about possible merger of Badal's nephew Manpreet Singh Badal's party in the Congress, he said we would "welcome him in our party. But it's upto him to decide."
However he avoided saying anything when asked if Manpreet's inclusion will make the Congress party strong.
