Amazon launches new service to help new SMBs sell online

Amazon India has launched a new 'Service Provider Network' (SPN), using which small and medium businesses in the country can start selling their products on the eCommerce major's platform.
Amazon has empanelled third party service providers, who will help sellers launch, manage, and grow their business on the Amazon.In marketplace, Amazon India Director Seller Services Amit Deshpande said.
These companies (under SPN) will offer services like cataloguing, imaging and listing to sellers who wish to sell their goods on Amazon, he added.

Airtel to offers deals to prepaid users via My Airtel app * Telecom operator Bharti Airtel today said it will give offers like talktime benefits, extra internet and cashback to its prepaid users through its My Airtel app.

"Customers will now be able to avail a host of value-for-money offers by simply shaking the 'My Airtel' application window on their mobile phones," a statement said.

The 'shake' feature of the app is currently only available for Android users and will soon be launched for iOS users, it added.

Uber launches inter-city service between Mumbai and Pune * Tax hailing app Uber today said it will launch a new service -- uberINTERCITY -- to allow commuters to travel between Mumbai and Pune using its service.
The service, which will be available from May 2, will be charged at Rs 3,999 inclusive of tolls and service tax.

"It's another step toward building bespoke products and solutions that are extremely local and relevant. It's one of the many things we are doing specific to the Indian market," Uber Mumbai GM Shaliesh Salwani said.

Maximum claims in construction industry: Study * Maximum claims under workmen compensation have been reported from the construction industry as around 55 percent of claims are settled for workers engaged in construction work, according to a study conducted by Tata AIG General Insurance.
Manufacturing industry is the second largest segment (15 percent) where injury claims are reported. More often, head injuries result in fatal claims and are quite common in construction-related activities, the study said.

On an average, around 400 claims are reported every year amounting to Rs 5 crore. Around 50 percent of the premium comes from companies engaged in construction activity, followed by industries like engineering workshops (16 percent), other manufacturing units and offices (5 percent), it said.
