A six-member delegation of All Migrant Employees Association Kashmir (AMEAK) today called on Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and apprised her of the demands of employees who are on protest for the last 120 days.
The delegation, led by Chairman All Parties Migrants Coordination Committee (APMCC) Vinod Pandit, submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister seeking redressal of employees grievances, a release issued here said.
The Kashmiri Pandit (KP) employees have refused to join their duties in the Valley after their transit camps were allegedly attacked by mobs during the ongoing unrest.
Mehbooba gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured that their "genuine demands" would be addressed while demands of employees falling under the ambit of the Union government would be forwarded to Ministry of Home Affairs, the statement said.
The Chief Minister assured employees that "nobody would be forced to resume their duties in Kashmir Valley till situation becomes conducive and also assured that their salary and other issues regarding employment in Kashmir Valley would also be addressed immediately," it said.
She also said no HoD would be allowed to harass KP employees unnecessarily.
The Chief Minister said KPs are an important part of Kashmir and the government was duty-bound to redress their grievances with compassion, it added.
