AMEAK suspends 120-day long agitation

The All Migrant Employees Association Kashmir (AMEAK) today suspended its 120-day long agitation on the assurance of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti that they would not be "forced" to join their duties till situation becomes "conducive" in the Valley and their salaries would be credited to their accounts without any interruption.
The assurance was given by the Chief Minister to the AMEAK delegation led by Vinod Pandit and King C Bharati yesterday.
She deputed divisional commissioner, Jammu, Pawan Kotwal to the agitation venue of the employees to convey her message to them, a release of the association issued here said.
Kotwal told employees that he has been instructed by principal secretary to Chief Minister B B Vyas to convey to employees that Chief Minister was aware of their situation and has assured them that nobody would be forced to join their duties till situation is conducive for them to return to the Valley, it said.
He also told them their salaries would be paid to them regularly keeping in view the prevailing conditions in the Valley, adding no HoD or DDO would harass them or force them to join their duties in the Valley till further orders of the government, the statement said.
The divisional commissioner said the government was concerned towards the issues of employees and they should not feel neglected or left out, adding it was duty of the government to instill a sense of security among the citizens of the state, it said.
