A collection of ancient Indian treasures and royal jewels, which forms a part of the items valued at about USD 100 million to be auctioned in New York, has been put on display at an exhibition in Shanghai.

The three-day exhibition "Maharajas & Mughal Magnificence" is part of the British auction house Christie's' global exhibition tour.

Christie's announced that the exhibition in Shanghai was the highlight and preview of the coming auction in New York in June, consisting of more than 400 lots of items with an assessed value up to USD 100 million, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

In recent years, rich Chinese buyers have shown interest in acquiring expensive historic objects and art works.

Among the exhibits are some of the world's finest ancient jewels such as a Diamond Turban Ornament waved with approximately 152.6 carats diamonds, carved Mughal emeralds, a jade-hilted dagger once owned by Shah Jahan, the Enamel and Diamond Peacock Aigrette and the magnificent "Mirror of Paradise" D Color Internally Flawless Golconda diamond of 52.58 carats, the report said.

One of the exhibits is a jade cup carved with a poem of Chinese Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) on its interior.

Mughal rulers are famous for their emeralds, diamonds, sapphires, rubies, jewelled weapons and objects.
